What happened

Hello Slice of NY,

My husband, Brian, and I have been enthusiastic customers of Slice of NY since it opened. Brian's from Long Island, and was ecstatic about how much your pizza reminded him of home. We've evangelized you guys to pretty much anyone who'd stand still long enough to listen!

Our last few trips, however, have been really disappointing. We always order for pickup well in advance, and show up on time. In the last three orders, though, I've had my order lost once, misplaced once, and was told that my pizza had been sold to someone else the third time. Each time I had to wait for a new pizza to be made. When you have a hungry family at home, this can get problematic.

You're busy, though, and we love your food, so I let it go. But this last time -- when my pizza was given to someone else -- after waiting 25 minutes, I was called up by name and given what was supposed to be my pizza. I was desperate to get home, so I didn't check. I paid, grabbed it and went. When we opened it, it was a) cold, and b) not at all a large pepperoni with extra cheese. It was a cold plain cheese pizza.

Alright, I'm finally going to complain. C'mon, what happened, guys? Once in a while I can see a glitch. But three times in a row, and being given the wrong order -- and a COLD wrong order -- after making someone wait? What's up?

Hi Cat,

I assume you came in tonight, because I asked the crew what this large pepperoni, extra cheese pizza was doing. One of them told me they thought it was swapped for another pizza. Not good, I know.

So, I can't fix anything I don't know about, so I am very glad to hear from you. Whether you are a first time customer or an original, the service and the food should be outstanding. Obviously, we have fallen down a few times, for this I am very sorry.

Sure, orders do get lost and mistakes do happen, but to happen to the same person kinda sucks. It seems we owe you some good service and some good food. Why don't you let me know when you want to come in next for a meal and I'll make sure you get taken care of appropriately. Call the shop and place your order. Then tell them to track me down. Give them your name and phone number, and if I am not there, I will call you back to confirm the order.

We'll get it right. Tonight was a really crazy night. Unfortunately, you were not the only person that got hosed. Please accept my sincere apologies and we will make it right with you.

Thanks again for letting us know. Next time (hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is), please call the shop and ask to speak with me so I can track down what happened.
